DMAF Career Development Services works with individuals within or outside of organizations. We partner with them to discover and define their career paths and create career development plans to move them into and up through organizations. We coach people in the areas of leadership, management, personal organization & productivity, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Here are the steps DMAF Consulting has defined that make up the range of work we do in the area of career development consulting.  We call it the DMAF Consulting Career Development Path to Fulfillment©.  These steps apply regardless of whether the individual is a part an organization and wanting to move within (or out of) it or looking for a new job or career.

The first seven steps of the path are designed to assist individuals in getting clear on what they really want to do.

Getting Clarity on Your Ideal Job

  1. Removing obstacles to career path progression
  2. Owning your gifts
  3. What would you do if you knew you could not fail?
  4. W5H questions for job environment and criteria
  5. Grounding your vision
  6. Identifying occupations
  7. Decision point: Qualified to apply now:  go or no go?
    1. If not yet qualified: create a Professional Development Plan (PDP)
    2. If qualified now, go to Moving Toward Your Ideal Job
    3. When PDP milestones are completed, go to the next step

Only when an individual is clear on a career objective and ideal job does it make sense to write a résumé and begin to seek a new job or promotion.  An effective résumé is one that demonstrates a clear objective, which will open the doors to new job opportunities.  And, an effective résumé must be combined with the appropriate cover letter to make a complete job application.

After the
résumé and cover letters are prepared, it is time to begin the job search.  This marks the start of the second half of the Path, which leads individuals to their dream job—or perhaps the job that puts them one step away from it.

Moving Toward Your Ideal Job

  1. Job search & networking strategies & planning
  2. Organization and job posting discernment strategies
  3. Job application strategies
  4. Interview preparation
  5. Interview debriefing
  6. Organization and job fit discernment:  go or no go?
    1. If no go—return to Step 2 immediately above
    2. If go—go to the next step
  7. Offer analysis & negotiation:  go or no go?

The DMAF Consulting Career Development Path to Fulfillment© is the roadmap to success in job or career transitions.  If you would like to discuss the Path or where you might fit on it, or how it might assist you or your organization, call us.  The first session is a free consultation, an opportunity for brainstorming with no obligation whatsoever to continue working together.

“Never continue in a job you don't enjoy. If you're happy in what you're doing, you'll like yourself, you'll have inner peace. And if you have that, along with physical health, you will have had more success than you could possibly have imagined.”
